Promotes digitalization

Facilitates interoperability

Enables harmonization of electronic data exchanges

Enhances strategic partnership development

As of January 2024, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has made it mandatory for public authorities to establish, maintain and use single window (SW) systems for the electronic exchange of information required on arrival, stay and departure of ships in ports globally. In addition, public authorities will have to combine or coordinate the electronic transmission of the data to ensure that information is submitted only once and re-used to the maximum extent possible.

Implemented well, a Maritime Single Window can:

  • Create a common understanding of activity in the maritime domain
  • Improve the competitiveness of supply chains by centralizing and streamlining information flow
  • Increase supply chain efficiency, predictability, and optimisation through advance vessel and cargo information and planning
  • Reduce vessel time at anchor and at berth, minimising emissions
  • Streamline the vessel clearance process, speeding up departure
  • Improve safety of a call due to data certainty and availability
  • Reduce human ship-to-shore interaction and promote better health and safety

OCIANA® incorporates the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data analytics to improve maritime situational awareness and provide real-time decision-making intelligence.

The platform promotes digitalization, interoperability, data exchange harmonization as well as the development of strategic partnerships. The platform is also well aligned with the IMO’s Maritime Single Window (MSW) mandate based on the key capabilities that MSW systems are expected to provide:

Advanced ETA Prediction: MSWs aim to reduce vessel time at anchor and berth, minimizing emissions and improving efficiency. OCIANA’s Advanced ETA Prediction aligns with these objectives, offering precise ETA calculations to optimize maritime operations, facilitating Just-In-Time arrival.

Multi-party Communication & Collaboration: MSWs facilitate shared knowledge and synchronized activities among various maritime stakeholders. OCIANA’s multi-part communication and collaboration capabilities can support the MSW’s goal of enhancing cooperative decision-making and efficiency by bringing maritime players and government departments into a single platform.

Environmental Performance Management (EPM) Toolkit: Sustainability and emission reduction are key focus areas of MSWs. OCIANA’s EPM Toolkit support these sustainability goals, providing real-time global emission monitoring and facilitating reduction strategies.

Common Collaborative Platform & API Integration: MSWs are envisioned as public-private data collaboration platforms that optimize business processes related to maritime arrivals, stays, and departures. The platform promotes collaboration and supports API integration.

Satellite Data Fusion: MSWs require the capability to handle multiple data types and sources. OCIANA® is data agnostic and has robust data processing capabilities which makes it well suited for the diverse data requirements of MSWs.

Stakeholder Engagement: Full-scale MSW implementation requires engagement with a wide range of stakeholders to fully meet MSW’s collaborative requirements.

OCIANA’s comprehensive capabilities align with the key objectives and requirements of the Maritime Single Window mandate set by the IMO. The platform also offers a number of value-add capabilities which support MSW objectives:

Schedule Optimisation Planner (SOP): Efficient utilization of port resources and reduction in vessel idle times are part of the MSW’s objectives. OCIANA’s SOP could contribute to achieving these goals by optimizing port resource utilization and facilitating Just-In-Time Arrival.

Vessel Path Prediction and Intelligent Geofencing: OCIANA’s Vessel Path Prediction and Intelligent Geofencing capabilities support the MSW’s objectives to enhance maritime safety and operational efficiency.

Advanced Dark Vessel Detection: Security is a significant aspect of maritime operations. OCIANA’s capabilities for dark vessel detection and regional surveillance integrate well with MSW systems to enhance maritime security measures.

Vessel Pattern of Life Analysis & Grounding Risk Reports: Risk assessment and management are integral to MSWs. OCIANA’s pattern of life analysis and grounding risk reports provide significant insights for risk mitigation within the MSW framework.
