Ottawa - 19 September, 2015

GSTS has been awarded the contract to provide satellite AIS data quality analysis for the Government of Canada. Satellite AIS data is available from a growing number of satellites, however the data can be inconsistent and invalid. High-quality data is critical to establishing valuable services and for planning and decision making. GSTS has developed a comprehensive solution to validate and rectify AIS datasets. This process can be applied at the front end of any AIS data application to ensure that only valid data is used for the application or service.

With over 10 satellites currently providing AIS data, and satellite numbers expected to grow to 30 in the next 5 years, the use of Satellite AIS data is guaranteed to grow at a rapid pace. GSTS continues to develop a growing range of services related to maritime safety, security and efficiency. The current project will enable the refinement and demonstration of data validation processes that will apply to any data set.

GSTS is committed to developing solutions that save lives, protect the environment, and reduce costs through the efficient integration and analysis of satellite and terrestrial based data sources.

Ottawa - 8 January, 2014

GSTS is pleased to announce that that the company has been awarded a contract for the development of a Satellite based Maritime Planning and Analysis Tool by Transport Canada.  This planning and analysis tool builds upon GSTS's maritime data management and analysis capability which has been developed to support maritime safety, security, operations and the environment. The GSTS suite of solutions is based on the analysis of multiple data sets, using advanced big data techniques, to extract decision making intelligence.  Within the project GSTS will develop and demonstrate a new vessel management technology which will analyse vessel trajectories and provide information on optimized vessel routing and speed to reduce emissions and fuel costs. With fuel costs for the maritime sector averaging $110 Billion per year, resulting in 1 Billion tons of GHG emissions annually, this tool has the potential to provide substantial financial as well as environmental benefits for all nations.

GSTS solutions provide the ability to manage goods from source to destination including the continuous monitoring of factors such as temperature, container openings, locations visited en route, and cargo electronic documentation. This combination of managed data will increase cargo security, provide verification of insurance claims, reduce cross-border introduction of invasive or harmful species, and shorten cargo and customs processing times.

Ottawa - 17 October, 2013

GSTS is pleased to announce that the Company has been awarded a contract under the Government of Canada Fed Dev Program for the development of an initial phase of a maritime vessel planning and optimization capability using satellite based and terrestrial data sources. The project is being conducted in collaboration with Wilfrid Laurier University and Communitech Corporation. The project is the first step in developing an advanced vessel management capability to enhance overall logistics planning, reduce emissions and save fuel. GSTS will develop and commercialize this capability as part of its service offerings to the maritime market. GSTS also plans to expand this capability to road and rail asset management, which will make possible the end to end management of goods on a global scale.

HONG KONG - 11 October, 2013

Global Spatial Technology Solutions Inc. (GSTS) is pleased to announce that the Company has been selected as one of the 12 Finalists to participate in the Invest Hong Kong StartmeupHK Venture Programme. GSTS was selected from a group of 384 candidates from around the world. GSTS benefits from the connection with investors, customers and business advisors that the programme provides. Being selected enables GSTS to accelerate the plans and timing for company growth.
Each venture was chosen by the assessors for the scale of the problem or opportunity being addressed, the effectiveness of the solution and its impact, the venture’s viability, sustainability and scalability, and the economic benefit to Hong Kong in terms of knowledge and skills, job creation, social and environmental value and more.
GSTS proposes to establish a Global Maritime Management capability, similar to Air Traffic Control for ships, using Satellite AIS as well as other technologies. Such a system is not in place today and as a result ships continue to run aground, collide and conduct illegal activities. A new space based technology which members of GSTS helped establish, provides the ability to monitor vessels at all times and many more satellites will be launched in the next few years, providing persistent global coverage of the entire world’s oceans and waterways.
Our service solution provides the means to reduce emissions, improve logistics planning, reduce fuel consumption and save lives. Companies and organizations that sign up to our services will have the potential to be fast tracked for cargo loading and unloading through verified security measures, reduce insurance costs, and obtain real time vessel routing information to save time and fuel costs.
GSTS plans to establish an Operations Centre in the Asia Pacific region to monitor and manage the world’s busiest sea lanes and considers Hong Kong to be an excellent location based on the level of commercial connectivity and proximity to investors, customers and research facilities. The programme provides the opportunity for GSTS to accelerate plans to become the world leader in Global Vessel Management.
