GSTS is building up a team to support the development and commercialization of this new capability that will have a major impact on maritime risk and vessel efficiency on a global scale. Key Responsibilities:

• Create compelling visualizations, dashboards and reports for internal and external purposes
• Design and develop visualization standards to support product development based on industry best practices and current research
• Develop, modify and maintain the corporate visualization framework
• Create and maintain visualization galleries for marketing and promotional material
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team of designers, developers and system administrators
• Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement
• Develop rapid prototypes to support business development and client engagement activities
• Collaborate with team of frontend developers to ensure product branding and user experiences are consistent
• Collaborate with other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience
• Develop ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends
• Record data and report to proper parties, such as clients or leadership

Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience developing dashboards and web applications in RShiny
• Experience creating aesthetically appealing visualizations with R packages such as ggplot2
• Experience performing data wrangling with R packages such as data.table or dplyr
• Experience deploying and maintaining dynamic dashboards within a cloud environment
• Ability to tell a story with data to a wide range of users
• Ability developing custom themes, colour palettes and colour scales for use in ggplot2
• Proven abilities with Git based code repositories such as GitLab or GitHub
• Strong attention to detail including clear, concise and thorough documentation skills
• Ability to listen and develop a deep understanding of project, product and client requirements
• Strong self-initiative and work ethic
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Ability to learn and adapt new technologies
• Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG or AODA
• Knowledge or Rmarkdown and pagedown packages considered an asset
• Knowledge of visualizing geographic data is considered an asset

Comments/Special Considerations:

Candidates must hold or be able to obtain Security and Controlled Goods clearances

Candidates must provide a digital portfolio outlining their abilities to perform the above stated responsibilities, experience and qualifications
